Band:
U2 Release: All That You Can't Leave Behind Label: Island Records |

Certain U2 songs in the past have given me the chills. I have seen the band live
numerous times and have typically been impressed with the results. But now the
newest CD is here. I had heard the first single Beautiful Day and couldn't wait
to hear the whole release. I was thinking they had returned to the past with a
more innocent sound. The CD finally arrived and went directly into the player.
After the second song I was beginning top get annoyed. After the third song I
was really annoyed. By the fourth song I was mumbling to myself "this sucks". Nothing even close to chilling on this release. The music of U2 which has always been so rich in the past now seems overshadowed and restricted by Bono's vocals on this release. Beautiful Day was easily the best song on this one. Sad to say, but this one is getting little or no airplay from me. Play it for your date one quiet evening. Maybe that is where it belongs. Grade: C- Deejay O.S. Destroy Radio |
