Band: Basement Jaxx Release: Rooty Label: Astralwerks |

From the duo of Felix Burton & Simon Ratcliffe comes the follow up to Remedy. Rooty is absolutely my favorite Dance album of the year 2001 and I have a feeling it will remain at the top once this year is complete. Mixing R & B, House, Pop, Funk and some very dark beats into a maze which takes the listener through a wide array of twists and turns. Romeo is the first song on the CD and is also the first single from Rooty. Sampling from Chic, Earth Wind & Fire and Gary Numan of all people, there is nothing whatsoever to bore the listener. Songs 8 & 9 back to back caused me to turn my living room into a temporary Nightclub at the "House of O.S.". Song 8 "Get Me Off" is as sexually satisfying, as it is pleasing to the ear. "I want to undress you, wanna caress you". There is something disturbingly right about this song. (Serial Killers, Freaks and Weirdos take note!) The song comes to a finish but there is no time to reflect because Where's Your Head At begins. My god, it doesnt get any better than this. Back to back these two songs have already made my life much more enjoyable. Daft Punk - the ball is now in your court, and it aint gonna be easy! Buy this CD and throw a party at your place. The girls will think you rule! Grade: A Deejay O.S. www.destroyradio.com |
