Band:
Pennywise Release: Live @ The Key Club Label: Epitaph |
The first time I heard Pennywise, I was driving through Los Angeles and was listening
to the world famous KROQ (at least they claim to be world famous?). The Rodney
on the Roq show was on and Rodney said "coming up next is a band that makes
me remember the old school, this is Pennywise". I couldn't believe what I was
hearing. Punk Rock was a bit stale to me at the time. The song was called "Living
for Today" and the certain elements from the Old School laced into the song
made me feel proud to see someone was paying attention. I was hooked and still am. The band has remained true to its sound although often times kicked around by the critics because of it. But what is so wrong with remaining true when your music is such a driving force. All of my favorites are on this release with great production/recording quality to go along with it. Minor Threat gets the cover treatment. And it wouldn't be Pennywise if it didn't end with the ulimate tribute to the lost lives along the way - Bro Hymn. Still respecting the dead, and I'm still respecting Pennywise. A nice looking booklet to go along as well. Grade: B+ Deejay O.S. Destroy Radio |
